Dr. Lundell is the newest member of our team and specializes in pediatrics, amblyopia, and myopia control. Originally from northeastern Wisconsin, she moved to Duluth to obtain her undergraduate degree with honors from The College of St. Scholastica. She then traveled to Bloomington, Indiana, where she earned her Doctorate of Optometry from the Indiana University School of Optometry.

During her time in optometry school, Dr. Lundell was a member of the Beta Sigma Kappa Optometric honor society. She also received the 2019 Pediatric Good-Lite Award for outstanding work in pediatrics.

Today, she offers exams to children of all ages, including infants, and is an active InfantSee provider. She is also a member of the Minnesota Optometric Association and the American Optometric Association.

Dr. Brad Schwantke received his Doctor of Optometry from Pacific University in 2011. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from St. John’s University.

Dr. Schwantke, specializing in pediatric eyecare, has been practicing optometry since 2011. As a young man, Dr. Schwantke was particularly influenced by his hometown eye doctor, who he could observe and, through him, learned more about the optometry profession. He saw firsthand the importance of his mentor’s role in the community and his enjoyment as he helped provide people with a better vision. It was then Dr. Schwantke knew that optometry was a profession he would enjoy.

Dr. Schwantke especially enjoys getting to know and connect with his patients and their families. He truly considers all of his patients as friends.

Dr. Kevin Lucas received his Doctor of Optometry from Nova Southeastern University in 1998. He also holds a Bachelor of Science in Human Biology and Chemistry from Mankato State University.

Dr. Lucas has been in practice since 1998 and specializes in glaucoma treatment and contact lens fitting. As an optometrist, Dr. Lucas applies his knowledge and experience to each patient’s particular needs related to vision problems and overall eye health.

In addition to addressing available treatment options, Dr. Lucas enjoys continuously helping patients understand their eye health and vision needs.

Dr. Grudem Established Birch Lake Eye Clinic in 1979. Dr. Grudem received his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Wisconsin and his Doctorate of Optometry degree from Pacific University College of Optometry in Forest Grove, Oregon. He is a member of the American Optometric Association, Minnesota Optometric Association and is on the Board of Directors for TLC Laser Center. Dr. Grudem resides in Blaine with his wife.
